New Year’s Progress

My helper is just to the side of the rear tire. She is a major contributor!

We made some good progress on both “The Resurrection Project” and “The Salvation Project” this week.

I am trying to finish up all the fabrication work on “The Resurrection Project” so I can take it back apart again and permanently weld all of the new modifications and body mounts. Once that is done, I will strip the old chassis paint and pickle it to keep it from rusting.

This week I had to cut a notch in the body to provide clearance for a roots style supercharger. We will be putting a screw style supercharger on it that does not need this extra clearance but I want to be able to switch from a screw to a roots if the rules change in favor of a roots supercharger.

I had to build a titanium firewall extension to fill the hole created by the cutout to prevent fire (from an engine failure) from coming in the cockpit are shrapnel if a blower explosion occurs.

I also build a front windshield support that keeps the plexiglas windshield from collapsing at 250 mph. The front pillars of the body also needed support brackets to keep the body secure at the edges of the windshield.

I also roughly cut the hole in the front end to clear the supercharger

There has also been some developments on “The Salvation Project”.  Mike Janis Jr.sent me some messages and pictures of my engine going together. Some of the assembly work is actually being done by Mike Janis Sr. For a life long drag racing fan like me, having Mike Janis Sr. assembling my engine is the coolest thing ever! Just another part of my dream coming true.

I know everyone has heard me say this before but I just want to stress how much I believe that nothing happens by accident!!! God has a plan for us if we follow his lead. One of my favorite movies from years ago (Grand Canyon) has a scene in it where one of the characters crosses paths with another person that lives in an entirely different type of life. They meet one another under extraordinary circumstances but form a bond and connection that is undeniable and become life long friends.

Our friendship with the Janis family was a result of buying some race parts from one of the Janis’s customers and the used parts we purchased were being stored at the Janis’s shop in New York State. If God had not led me to buy those parts and led Traci and I to drive all the way up there to pick them up, we  would not be this close to achieving our dreams.

Again, I believe we were pre-destined to meet the Janis’s, so we could achieve our dreams. It gives me so much confidence knowing how God is putting the plan into action. Sometimes you just have to open your eyes to see the miracles of God’s plan for us.
