New 4th of July Tradition, God Bless America
Traci and I had one of our craziest and busiest 4th of July celebrations ever. We had family on the weekend but the 4th it was just us.
We started the day with a boat ride on Lake Livingston.
We came back home and I cooked some burgers on the BBQ pit.
After eating, Traci talked me into taking a nap in the heat of the day (I never take a nap).
After that, we decided to start a new tradition. Most people buy some fireworks for the 4th but we decided to have our own type of fireworks. We decided to do a little target shooting and try out one of my rare guns.
We mostly shoot with suppressors, so we don’t make much noise at all. We shot my 300 Blackout first. It is a very quiet and fun to shoot gun that is a semi-automatic.
Next, we shot my long-range bolt action .308 gun with subsonic ammo that is whisper quiet.
Then we shot a .45 ACP pistol with a suppressor that is amazingly quiet for a big caliber pistol.
We saved the best for last! A while back, a friend of ours, who was a collector passed away and I bought some of his guns. This one is special. It is a Browning 1919 A4, 30 caliber machine gun that has been converted to semi-auto, making it legal to own without crazy government regulations. This is one of the types of guns that helped stop Hitler from ruling the earth!
It has a device on it that makes it shoot like an old western Gatlin gun. I had not shot it yet and did not know what to expect. It exceeded my expectations! Needless to say, it was NOT quiet. With all of the fireworks going off around us, we just fit right in on our shooting spot. We went through about 200 rounds in a couple of minutes, ha!
Traci and I both had a blast, literally!
We ended up driving over to the marina where we keep our boat and watching the fireworks display over the lake. It was true AMERICANA and a great way to end the evening.
We were both worn out after going all day!
I am so thankful that we live in this great nation where we still have some freedoms. I am so thankful to the guys and women who sacrificed so much for what we have. I cannot imagine what they went through on the Normandy beaches, Korean War, Viet Nam, Iraq, Afganistan..... Being on the receiving end of a gun like this would be beyond scary and we owe so much to them.
Thank you GOD for being born in the best place on earth. 'MERICA!!!
Luke 1:37, For nothing will be impossible with God!
Looks like Traci and you had a great day! Thankful for all our freedoms. Our family gathered for swimming, fishing, food, fireworks, and great family time. God is good all the time. Bro Jerry
