Fun, Busy, and Exciting Times (Jesus is in control!)

Traci and I just got back from four days of camping in our RV at the drag strip in Ennis, Texas watching the Fall Nationals. We had a great time and got to see the Janis crew running in their final race of the season. They didn’t have the race results they wanted but that is drag racing!

If it were easy, anyone could do it!

Seeing the Janis Crew race really motivates me to achieve my goals. As of the race weekend, it is approximately 365 days until we make our debut at the same race next year. Tic-Toc, Tic-Toc, the clock is ticking.

Our RV spot was right on the finish line and we ended up watching a lot of racing in the RV. Traci got to see some huge explosions of Top Fuel cars as they past the finish line. We had awesome seats! Here is one of the explosions of one of our favorite race cars (Clay Millican). Be sure and watch the slow motion replay!

Willow came with us and watched some of the action from the RV. She got used to the race cars going by all day and was pretty relaxed except when the Top Fuel cars ran. She ran for cover every time they ran. Traci and Willow got to catch up on some much needed afternoon naps too!

I continue to work on the old car to get it ready to run again. I am making a ton of modifications on it to make it safer and faster. I have a long ways to go but progress is steady! I finished fabricating the parachute brackets out of titanium and just finished fabricating a new stronger track locater (The thingy that keeps the rear tires centered and going straight)

Last week I got a call from Rick Jones (the chassis builder for the new car) and he said they have begun construction of the new chassis. Mikey had a call with Rick to make sure engine placement and other critical details are established. Rick also told me that the 67 Mustang body had arrived at their shop! All good news!

I got a picture from Rick today and the first tubes are being fitted now. This is super exciting and really drives the point home that THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!

The beginnings of a world class race car!

It also puts the pressure on us to finish the old car so I can work on the new one once it is complete.

The emotions are running wild as I see my dream come together. It would have been impossible without God’s blessings and planning. It is so amazing to see how God puts all the pieces together when you have patience and let HIM show you the way. Being at the races with the Janis crew and being like family around them is a miracle in itself. Just think about the odds of us (hillbillies from Texas) meeting this racing family (who live half way across the country) and becoming best of friends.

With God’s continued help and the best ProMod crew there is, we are going to be a “real” player in drag racing.

Our race team name says it all:
